The Rubin Observatory Project & Community Workshop (PCW) is taking place virtually from August 10-14, 2020. The daily schedule will run from 9 am – 1 pm (PDT). The Science Organizing Committee consisting of Rubin Project, Operations, and Community members, has put together an engaging program for the meeting.

Registration is now open (no fee) click here. Project members can use existing credentials to register, non-project members will need to register a new account. You can get an idea of the content on the Sessions page. We will be posting more information as we have it. We hope everyone stays safe.

The LSSTC will be hosting two exciting workshop sessions.

Help Guide LSSTC’s Fundraising Efforts

Thursday, August 13, 10:30 am-11:30 am, PDT

One of LSSTC’s core activities is seeking funding from private donors and foundations for programs that enable or relate to research with Rubin Observatory LSST (such as the Data Science Fellowship Program, the Enabling Science small-grants program, and workshops with seed funding). Astronomers at our member institutions help to prioritize and shape the programs for which we seek support. During this interactive session, we want to hear what you think we should be fundraising for. The session may begin with a panel discussion about funding priorities that some Science Collaborations have identified. We encourage all members of the Science Collaborations to attend.

Building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into New LSSTC Programs

Friday, August 14, 10:30-11:30 am, PDT

What if you could re-write the rules of academia? What would you change to make research more joyous for black scientists, women, and other groups that are underrepresented in STEM? LSSTC has received support from a private foundation to address just such questions as we design a suite of major new programs related to research with Rubin Observatory LSST. Please join us for a brief panel discussion about this opportunity, followed by some fun, interactive activities. All are welcome.
