LINCC Frameworks Project Scientist

Neven Caplar is a project scientist with the LINCC Frameworks team, where he guides the development of the LSDB —a tool designed to enable efficient cross-matching of astronomical catalogs and scalable analysis of time-domain data. This effort includes the development of HATS (Hierarchical Adaptive Tiling Scheme), directory structure, and metadata for spatially arranging large catalog survey data.
He plays an active role in commissioning the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), focusing on the performance validation of the difference imaging pipeline and developing quality assessment metrics.

His scientific expertise is in extragalactic time-domain astronomy, focusing on the variability of active galactic nuclei (AGN). By applying advanced statistical techniques to large datasets, he investigates the physical drivers of AGN variability and its connections to broader galaxy evolution.
