Jenny Greene

Princeton University

Jenny Greene is a Professor of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University. She is interested in all aspects of galaxy evolution, with special focus on supermassive black holes and the low surface brightness universe (dwarf galaxies in particular). She has been heavily invested in the LSST precursor, the Hyper-Suprime Camera Survey, and is keen to transfer knowledge from that experience to early LSST data. Greene also has a decade+ experience running the Prime Focus Spectrograph Galaxy Evolution working group.

Greene has served on a number of telescope-focused committees including the Space Telescope User Committee and more than a decade on the GMT SAC. She also served on the OIR Ground-based panel for the 2020 Decadal Survey. Greene also brings the rather unique experience of cofounding the Princeton Prison Teaching Initiative, which grew from an all-volunteer initiative to a fully institutionalized organization under Greene’s leadership. This work has given Greene a deep understanding of managing complex state-wide partnerships, as well as important insight into the many facets of opening STEM pathways to underserved communities.

Greene has science interests in LSST ranging from identifying extragalactic tidal features, to finding distant dwarf galaxies, to characterizing black hole accretion through variability. She is most excited about working with the Board to build meaningful and broad community involvement in the transformative science that LSST has to offer. .
