Lucas Macri has been involved with LSST science for about 20 years, and with LSSTC/LSST-DA since 2012. He served as the Texas A&M institutional representative between 2014 and 2018, as Vice Chair of the Executive Board in 2019, and as Chair between 2020 and 2023.
Macri’s research focuses on measuring accurate and precise distances to galaxies using Cepheid and Mira variables, in order to calibrate the luminosity of type Ia supernovae and ultimately determine the local expansion rate of the Universe (commonly referred to as the Hubble constant).
