The LINCC Frameworks team will be hosting a series of Hackathons and Workshops starting in 2025 to support astronomers making use of Rubin Observatory’s early science data products. Information about upcoming events appears below:
July 2025 LINCC Frameworks Workshop and Hackathon
27-28 July 2025 at NOIRLab in Tucson, AZ (in conjunction with Rubin Community Workshop 2025)
Dive into Rubin DP1 data* with the LINCC Frameworks team at the RCW 2025 in Tucson. This event will feature tutorials of two LINCC Frameworks Software Tools – LSDB and TDAstro – followed by 1.5 days of collaborative Hacking supported by LINCC Frameworks software experts.

This event will be held at NOIRLab in Tucson, AZ, in conjunction with the 2025 Rubin Community Workshop as well as the ADASSx 2025 meeting. We encourage Hackathon participants to register for the RCW, which starts on Monday morning, and the ADASSx meeting after the RCW; we will coordinate transportation from the Marriott to NOIRLab after the Monday morning RCW plenary session to begin our second day of hacking. For those unable to secure rooming at the Marriott Tucson University Park through their participation in the RCW, we suggest the Graduate Hotel Tucson, across the street from the Marriott.
In advance of the event, we will host project pitch discussions on Slack and computer preparation sessions, to maximize the time spent at NOIRLab spent on collaboration and discovery.
*This hack event intends to utilize DP1 data, depending on data availability.

Sunday 27 July
9:00am – Hackathon Welcome [at NOIRLab; NOIRLab is a 15 minute walk from the Tucson Marriott University Park or 3 stops on the free Sun Tran light rail]
9:15am – LINCC Frameworks Tutorials on LSDB and TDAstro
10:45am – Morning Coffee Break/ last minute pitch crafting
11:00am – Plenary Pitch Session
11:30am – Hacking begins
12:00pm – Lunch available
5:00pm – Official “end of day”; teams may continue working if so desired
5:30pm – Pizza and sandwich dinner provided for individuals that choose to keep working
Monday 28 July

10:30am – Brief Plenary opening, before hacking resumes
