The bulk of the program for the 2024 Symposium will take place at Northwestern University’s Norris University Center. The Catalyst Hack Day on Wednesday will take place at Northwestern University / CIERA.
The Norris University Center is located at 1999 Campus Dr, Evanston, IL 60208. Norris is a 13 min walk from The Graduate Evanston. Floor plans for the entire building are available here. Relevant spaces for the Catalyst Symposium have been highlighted in the maps below.

CIERA is located at 1800 Sherman Ave, Evanston, IL 60201 on the 8th floor. The doors are locked, so please buzz CIERA on the intercom to be let in by a staff member. All spaces relevant for the Hack Day are highlighted on the maps below.

Parking
Northwestern University campus parking
Northwestern University operates a number of lots around campus. A full map can be viewed here. To park in a Northwestern lot M-F 8am-4pm, a visitor permit is required. Visitor permits are not accepted in every Northwestern lot; please consult the map above or the lot signage before parking. Visitor permits can be purchased at the Evanston Campus Parking Services office (1841 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201). Guests must purchase one visitor parking pass for each day they wish to park on campus. Permits cost $9 each and must be hung from your vehicle’s rearview mirror with the date scratched off. Northwestern lots are open to the public (no permit required) past 4pm. Vehicles may not be stored in main campus lots for periods of longer than 48 hours.
Lot 232 (711 Elgin Lot) is closest to CIERA. Lot 214/215 is closest to the Norris University Center. If you park in other lots, please ensure that your pass is valid for Yellow (Visitor) passes.
City of Evanston parking
The City of Evanston operates a number of marked metered parking spots near campus. These spots can be paid for using the ParkEvanston app. There are quite a few ParkEvanston spots near CIERA; there are fewer spots near the Norris University Center.
Maple Garage (near CIERA)
There is a paid parking garage located at 1800 Maple Ave, Evanston, IL 60201. The Maple Garage is a 4 min walk to CIERA. CIERA may be able to validate parking. Please ask for William Vercellone (CIERA Information Coordinator) at the CIERA 8th floor front desk to inquire about possible validation.
Taking Uber To/From Norris University Center
If you planned to take Uber to Norris University Center, we suggest you select the drop off location (or pick up location) as “30 Arts Circle Drive”. From here, walk due north past the Block Museum of Art and down the ramp into the Ground floor of Norris University University Center.
Accessibility Needs
Lactation Spaces
For events in Norris University Center, participants may use the “1851 Room” (Room 2-149, see map above for Norris Second Floor) as a lactation room. There will be a sign that can be hung on the outside of the door that reads “Lactation Room: In use”. The room should lock from the inside for privacy. This space will also be used as a storage space for luggage and supplies, but privacy will be respected.
For events in CIERA, there is a dedicated lactation room on the 8th floor (Room 8010, see map above for CIERA 8th Floor; it’s next to Kitchen in 8012). Please see a CIERA administrative staff member for access.
Alternatively, the University Library which is immediately adjacent to Norris University Center, has a dedicated lactation room on its 3rd floor inside the women’s restroom. However, this room requires a key that can be checked out for one hour from the library circulation desk, requiring a library borrower’s card. We can arrange for you to be accompanied to this room by a Northwestern employee so that you can get access to this key, should you prefer to use this option. They encourage advance reservations for this room, which we can help make. Please talk to Andrew Sturner ([email protected]) to make use of this space.

All-Gender Restrooms
All single-stall restrooms on campus (and in Illinois in all public spaces) are designated as All-Gender restrooms.
Norris University Center has an All-Gender rRestroom on the 2nd Floor, immediately adjacent to the Louis Room South Entrance and adjacent to our Sign-In and Food area (see map above of Norris 2nd Floor).
CIERA has an All-Gender Restroom on the 8th Floor, Room 8028, next to the Cafe (see map above of CIERA 8th Floor).
Mobility Accessibility to Venues
For those with limited mobility or require wheelchair access, the best entrance to use for Norris University Center is the South East entrance, closest to Block Museum of Art. Uber can drop off at 30 Arts Circle Drive. Once inside the building, take the elevator to the 2nd Floor for the Louis Room.

If the link does not work for you, you can enter “LSST” into the Group Code option under “Special Rates”, and the special pricing should be applied. The discounted rooms are available for reservations from Thursday 10/17 through Saturday 10/26. EXTENDED: Rooms must be booked by September 25, 2024 to receive the discount. A discounted block of rooms for the LSST-DA Catalyst Symposium has been reserved for us at The Graduate Evanston, a short walk from our events at Northwestern University’s Norris Student Center and CIERA. Rooms will be $179 per night, plus taxes and fees.
