The Rubin LSST project provides a wide array of regularly updated information for scientists, to help you prepare for science with LSST. We’ve selected a subset of the Rubin Project-provided resources that may be particularly helpful for writing grant proposals:
- The full suite of LSST information for scientists provided on Rubin LSST’s website.
- The most up-to-date, “official” timeline for the Rubin project
- A 16-slide abridged Data Products Definition Document, with an emphasis on what Rubin will not provide that can be referenced in proposals
- A talk by Leanne Guy and Melissa Graham from LSST@Europe VI in 2024 September about what data will be available to data-rights holders during Data Previews 1 and 2, and when. (Note that the expected date of “First Look” is now June 2025.) Highlights: Data Preview 1 will consist of ComCam data, expected ~June 2025. Data Preview 2 will consist of science-quality LSSTCam data, expected 2026.
- The most recent recommendations from the Survey Cadence Optimization Committee (phase 3 recommendations).
- Template Individual Development Plans (which NSF now requires for funded graduate students and postdocs).
- The Ivezic et al. (2019, ApJ, 873, id. 111) paper “LSST: From Science Drivers to Reference Design and Anticipated Data Products”
